The 60th Anniversary of the Games - Saturday, July 21st, 2012

Mark your calendars now, so that you will not miss the 60th Anniversary of the Portland Highland Games on Saturday, July 21, 2012. The Professional Piobaireachd Competition is the previous evening, Friday, the 20th at 7 p.m.

Once again we will bring you world-class pipe bands, Celtic entertainment, top competition in Scottish heavy athletics, Highland dancing, fiddling, piping and drumming competitions. The Kilted Mile run, sheepdog demonstrations, children's games and activities, MacTarnahan Memorial Challenge caber toss, and the Parade of Massed Bands are always among the favorites. Throughout the day browse the booths to choose your special wares and souvenirs or enjoy your Highland foods and beers while watching the great celtic entertainment. At the end of the day, mingle with the competitors and perhaps enjoy a taste of some fine whiskies while unwinding from the days activities at the Ceilidh.

Much is in the works for the 60th anniversary! We are bringing back the Tug-of-War, new this year a Kids' Fun Run for ages 3-12, and will have a display to celebrate the past 60 years of history. The ever-popular raffle to win a Vacation for Two to Scotland will again be available. We will even have a 60th Anniversary Cake!
