The Clan Macleay Pipe Band
This year’s Guest Band is Portland’s very own “Clan Band” - the Clan Macleay Pipe Band. The Pipe Band is 75 years old and in 1952 it performed at the very first Portland Highland Games - 60 years ago.
The Pipe Band was formed under the sponsorship of the Clan Macleay Fraternal organization, but now for many years it has been a self-supporting independent organization. The band competes in many of the Highland games in the Northwest, but is best known as a performance or a show band. It is the annual highlight of the Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade, as well as other parades and events throughout the year.
As a tribute to the 60th Anniversary of the Portland Highland Games the band has chosen from their several uniforms to be dressed in their full military uniform with its ornate tunics and feather bonnets.
The Portland Highland Games is proud to welcome the Clan Macleay Pipe Band as our Guest Band in this 60th Anniversary Celebration.
