Guest Band

The 2011 Guest Band is Prince Charles Pipe Band from San Francisco, CA.

The Prince Charles Pipe Band (PCPB) was founded in 1968 to train young pipers and drummers in the San Francisco Bay Area. It began with just a handful of students, but to date has trained well over 500 individuals. The Band continues to honor its founding principles of developing pipers and drummers in its junior band, as well as maintaining the high-quality competitive senior band (Grade 2) you see here today.

Besides entertaining for hundreds of events, the bands have competed in the United States, Canada and Scotland for over 40 years, earning many prizes including World Championships in Grade 2 in 2000 and Grade 3 in 2003. PCPB fielded a Grade 1 unit from 2001 to 2006, competing at the World’s three times during that tenure.

The Prince Charles Grade 2 Band has enjoyed competitive success since being re-established nearly three years ago, including prizes at the Queen Mary and Costa Mesa games in Southern California, the Portland Highland games and the Caledonian Club games in Pleasanton. The Band is proud to have earned the Grade 2 Western US Pipe Band Association Champion honors for both 2009 and 2010.

The Band is led by Pipe Major Ken Sutherland and Drum Sergeant Duncan McPherson.
