Schedule of Events

The Portland Highland Games are Saturday, July 20, 2019. This is an all-day event starting in the morning with solo competitions, Scottish vendors, demonstrations and more. And, don’t miss the pre-game events on Friday, July 19, 2019.

Pre-Game Events: Friday, July 19, 2019

Pre-Game events on Friday are located in the Upper Field and in the Main Performance Arts Theater on campus. Cost to get into Friday events is $5. It’s cash only paid at the gate.

Gates Open – Upper Field

Clan tents, vendors, food and drink stations and music presented by 67 Music

  • Men C
  • Novice Men and Women
  • Women Lightweights
  • Masters Men 60+ and Women 50+

Competition concludes by 5 p.m. (ish)

Grade 1 and Open

Competition is expected to conclude by 10 p.m.

Tickets booths are at the Upper Field, South and West entrances to the gymnasium.

8:30 a.m.: Fiddle Workshop with Melinda Crawford (Room 114 – Gym) … ends at 10:30 a.m.

9 a.m.: Heavy Athletics Competition: Elite Men & Women, Men A & B, Women A & B, Master Men & Women 40 – 49, Master Men 50 – 59, Men Lightweights (Upper Field) … runs all day.

9 a.m.: Solo Piping & Drumming Competition (Main Field) … ends at Noon.

9 a.m.: Biddy on the Bench (Entertainment Stage – Upper Field) … ends at 9:45 a.m.

9:45 a.m.: Dram and Go – Celtic Trio (Entertainment Stage – Upper Field) … ends at 10:30 a.m.

10 a.m.: Highland Dance Competition – Premier (Highland Dance Stage – Main Field) … ends at Noon

10 a.m.: Genealogist Don Anderson Talk (Room 108 – Gym) … ends at Noon

10:30 a.m.: Whisky Tasting – “Meet the Maker” Westward Whiskey. Additional tickets required, 21 and over only (North Field) … ends at 11:15 a.m.

10:30 a.m.: Bill Mullen – Scottish Singer (Entertainment Stage – Upper Field) … ends at 11:30 a.m.

10:30 a.m.: Fiddle Competition – Novice, Junior and Open (Room 114 – Gym) … ends at 12:30 p.m.

11 a.m.: Regimental Drum Major Inspection & Decorum (Main Stage – Main Field) … ends at 11:30 a.m.

11:30 a.m.: Golden Bough – Celtic Music Group (Entertainment Stage – Upper Field) … ends at 12:30 p.m.

11:30 p.m.: Biddy on the Bench – Celtic Group (Entertainment Stage – Upper Field) … ends at 1:30 p.m.

1:30 p.m.: The Fire with Rebecca Lomnicky (Entertainment Stage – Upper Field) … ends at 2:30 p.m.

1:30 p.m.: Kids’ Fun Run – Open to ages 2 – 13 years. Sign up between 12:30 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. (Track – Main Field) … ends at 2 p.m.

2 p.m.: Pipe Band Competitions (Track – Main Field) … ends at 4:30 p.m.

2 p.m.: Biddy on the Bench – Celtic Band (North Field) … ends at 3 p.m.

2:30 p.m.: Fiddle and Harp Rally Performance (Center – Gym) … ends at 3:30 p.m.

2:30 p.m. Golden Bough – Celtic Music Performance (Entertainment Stage – Upper Field) … ends at 3:30 p.m.

3 p.m.: Advanced Whisky Tasting – Highland Stillhouse. Additional tickets required, 21 and over only (North Field) … ends at 3:45 p.m.

3:30 p.m.: Ceilidh Dance Social – Open to all (Room 114 – Gym) … ends at 4:30 p.m.

Get your raffle tickets in advance of the drawing. Put your name in the hat for an awesome trip to Scotland.

Come see incredible feats of strength as world-renowned athletes attempt to “toss the caber.”

Come watch pipers and drummers from all the bands come together to march on the main field. It’s a beautiful sight to see.
